The People's Party has introduced Surapol Nitikraipoj, former rector of Thammasat University, as the strategy chair for their Bangkok governor team. He is recognized for his knowledge and experience in various organizations and will offer advice if Chaiwat is given the chance.
On 2 June 2026 GMT+7, the People's Party revealed the full list of their People's Governor management team members. Professor Dr. Surapol Nitikraipoj, former rector of Thammasat University, has been appointed as the strategic advisory chair. Previously, on 5 May 2026 GMT+7, the party unveiled seven members of the management team, including both party personnel and outsiders such as Professor Amorn Pimanmas, President of the Structural Engineers Association of Thailand, and Dr. Phairoj Boonsirikamchai, former Deputy Secretary-General of the National Institute for Emergency Medicine.
Pichan Chaowaphatwanwong, Secretary-General of the People's Party, stated: The invitation of Professor Dr. Surapol as the strategic advisory chair for the People's Governor team was based on the party's recognition of his stature as a leading public law scholar. He has contributed to several laws related to decentralization and the administrative organization of Bangkok. Additionally, he has experience in Bangkok's public sector, having been appointed chairman of the board of Krungthep Thanakom Company Limited, a Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) enterprise in which BMA holds 99.98% of shares. This entity manages large public utility projects that the usual bureaucratic system cannot efficiently handle, such as the Green Line BTS project, waste and environmental management, underground communication cable projects, and public boat service management.
Therefore, if Chaiwat Stawarawijit, the candidate for Bangkok governor, is given the opportunity to manage Bangkok, he will have an expert with extensive experience in BMA administration providing guidance. This will ensure efficient governance with insights into past administrative vulnerabilities and mistakes, allowing immediate improvements without the need for a learning curve.
