The Cabinet approved the principle of a draft law on degrees at Surindra Rajabhat University, opening the way for a "Public Health" program to meet global health trends and designating "pink-orange" as the program's official color.
On 2 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Lieutenant Colonel Phatdarasmi Thongsaluaykong, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the Cabinet resolved to approve the principle of a draft royal decree concerning degrees, abbreviations, academic regalia, insignia, and official dress for Surindra Rajabhat University (draft version ..) B.E. ... as proposed by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI). This aims to elevate and support educational expansion in disciplines addressing health development locally and nationally.
This amendment to the royal decree follows Surindra Rajabhat University's introduction of a Public Health program, a crucial course for training frontline public health personnel. The program has been approved by the university's acting council and the Community Public Health Council, and has been properly reported to MHESI's Permanent Secretary Office in full compliance with regulations.
The draft royal decree specifies details about degree titles, abbreviations, and the official color for the Public Health discipline. At the doctoral level, the degree is "Doctor of Public Health" abbreviated as "D.P.H.", and "Doctor of Philosophy" abbreviated as "Ph.D.". For master's degrees, it is "Master of Public Health" abbreviated "M.P.H.", and for bachelor's degrees, "Bachelor of Public Health" abbreviated "B.P.H.". The designated color for this discipline is pink-orange, representing the Public Health field.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office added that adding the Public Health program will enhance the university's capacity to produce health experts to serve communities and Thai society broadly. The Cabinet will proceed with further steps before publishing the decree in the Royal Gazette to enforce it officially.
