On 2 June 2026, following the announcement in the Government Gazette of the royal decree granting a royal pardon to mark the grand royal ceremony celebrating the 84th birthday anniversary of Her Majesty the Queen on 3 June 2026, aimed at giving inmates the opportunity to rehabilitate and contribute positively to the nation, Thaksin Shinawatra, one of those granted conditional release under Sections 7 and 8, was immediately granted a royal pardon and freedom. Previously, he had been released on parole and left Klong Prem Central Prison on 11 May 2026 but was required to wear an electronic monitoring bracelet for an additional four months.
