
The Prime Minister and his wife joined in congratulating the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Italian Republic, amidst an atmosphere of friendship reflecting the strong ties between Thailand and Italy.
At 18:30 on 2 June 2026, at Paragon Hall, 5th floor, Siam Paragon Shopping Center, Bangkok, Ms. Lalida Pertwivatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, together with his wife Ms. Thannon Charnvirakul, attended a reception celebrating the National Day of the Italian Republic and the 80th anniversary of its founding. The event was warmly hosted by H.E. Mr. Paolo Dionisi, Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Thailand.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister and his wife presented a flower vase to the Italian Ambassador to Thailand as a congratulatory gesture to mark this significant milestone for the Italian people before entering the event venue. The Ambassador welcomed and congratulated them on the occasion of Italy's National Day and the 80th anniversary of the Republic's founding, and invited the Prime Minister and his wife to join a group photo with the Cabinet, diplomats, and distinguished guests from government and private sectors.
Subsequently, the Prime Minister and his wife watched a musical performance featuring Italian-Thai compositions by the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the internationally renowned Italian maestro Lorenzo Antonio Iosco. This performance symbolized the longstanding cultural exchange and friendship between Thailand and Italy before they joined the reception with honored guests from various sectors.
The reception was attended by approximately 2,000 guests, including Cabinet members, government executives, private sector leaders, foreign ambassadors accredited to Thailand, and representatives from agencies and organizations cooperating with Italy. This reflected the close and enduring relationship between Thailand and Italy, which in 2026 marks the 158th anniversary of diplomatic relations. Furthermore, both countries maintain close cooperation across multiple fields including economy, trade, investment, education, science, technology, and culture, forming a crucial foundation to further enhance their partnership and promote mutual growth in the future.
