Chadchart challenged Kris to present evidence of bribery in appointing district directors, emphasizing that one must be accountable for their words. He questioned why such accusations arise now, denied the existence of the "A-Gong system," pointed out the transfer of skilled personnel to work efficiently, and welcomed criticism for development.
3 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, candidate for Governor of Bangkok (Bangkok Governor), commented on the case where the Economic Party plans to hold a press conference alleging non-transparency in appointing district directors and corruption through the "A-Gong system." Chadchart explained that his team is actually familiar with the Economic Party because some members were formerly Bangkok Council members (BMC), and they have been in regular contact.
Regarding the alleged buying and selling of district director positions, Chadchart said, "Go ahead, present it. But you must be responsible for your words. If there is evidence, I shouldn't have made it this far until now, because transparency and corruption are issues that many have tried to use against me. If you have information, don't just speak now; it should have been during my tenure. It's clear that we do not engage in position trading because it is a disaster point. If you have experience or know information, bring it forward. If the information is clear, report it to the National Anti-Corruption Commission immediately. Don't just talk."
Regarding the question from the Economic Party asking "Buy from whom?" Chadchart responded that he does not know. He added, if they know, they should explain but must take responsibility because this is election season. Providing misleading information about candidates can lead to criminal liability. Everyone must be accountable for their statements. Currently, his legal team is monitoring the situation. He has met Kris Potranant, the party-list MP and Economic Party leader, frequently before the election but was never told about this issue. Likewise, former BMC members have never brought it up. He wondered why it is being raised now and suspected possible hidden motives but said he is not afraid. If there is any information or someone falsely using his name, just say it clearly. He insisted that everyone must speak and be responsible for their words. He has nothing to fear and welcomes scrutiny.
When asked whether this stance now is a political attack, Chadchart said he is stating the truth. If the information is true, the person using his name should be held accountable. He questioned the credibility of the claims because no team is better than his. If corrupt people had been appointed, how could they produce results? The people are the bosses. If corrupt people enter, corruption will continue, and policies won’t be implemented. There is no reason to do such things. However, if Kris is confident, he can hold a press conference. If there is evidence, he can file charges against the offenders because this has been addressed from the start.
On the issue of the so-called 'A-Gong system' behind the scenes, Chadchart stated, "The 'A-Gong system' does not exist. It's a fabricated term. It's a working guideline of the team, for which I take responsibility. 'A-Gong' refers to Mr. Tosak Chotimongkol, former chief advisor to the Bangkok Governor. He often meets with political party members without issue. But problems arise only near elections. I welcome scrutiny. Appointments and transfers involve placing talented and capable people with proven performance. This is the work of the appointed team. I accept and welcome inspection from everyone without any problem."
When asked if politics will become more intense from now on, Chadchart said he does not see a problem and will stand firm. For four years, there has been no issue. Such incidents near the final stretch are minimal. If there were real issues, they should have surfaced long ago. For now, they will remain steady, having no problems or concerns. If facts emerge, legal actions will be taken accordingly.
Regarding reports of increasing problems in Bangkok during campaigning, despite none being found during the past four years of work, Chadchart said Bangkok's problems are endless. No issue will ever be fully resolved because with about 10 million residents, problems exist everywhere. The purpose of visiting areas is to listen to issues. If given the chance, he will work on improvements. It is impossible to solve all problems 100%; it requires continuous effort. Some praise their work for improving lives, faster flood drainage, better roads, and improved education. Some say their team’s publicity is poor, but he believes publicity is unnecessary because the best proof is the improved lives of citizens. Problems will never be fully solved, but he is open to criticism for development.
However, regarding the question about the appointment of Prof. Dr. Surapol Nitikraipoj, as chairman of the board of Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (KT), Chadchart clarified that he never appointed Surapol to any position. Instead, he appointed Special Professor Thongthong Chandransu as KT chairman because he is a qualified lawyer capable of serving the public. Regarding the appointment of the chairman of the Nawamintharachini University Council, he did not appoint the person, as that individual held the position before Chadchart’s tenure. Being council chairman is an internal academic matter and unrelated to him.
