Warning Against Redeeming Thai Chuey Thai Plus Rights for Cash: Fraud Offense, Up to 3 Years Prison, 60,000 Baht Fine

The government warns that exchanging "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" rights for cash is strictly prohibited. Such an act constitutes fraud, punishable by up to 3 years in prison, a fine up to 60,000 baht, or both. Additionally, offenders will have other state program benefits suspended and must refund the money.


On 3 June 2026, Ms. Ploytale Lakshamisangchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government warns shops and citizens entitled to the program rights. "Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40" are prohibited from exchanging program rights for cash without actual purchase of goods. She emphasized that exchanging program rights for cash violates the program's purpose and is illegal. Both the exchanger and the user are subject to fraud charges. Fraud involves intentionally deceiving others with false information and is punishable by imprisonment up to 3 years, a fine up to 60,000 baht, or both, under Section 341.

The government has ordered close monitoring of the Thai Chuey Thai Plus program. If violations are confirmed, payments to the offending shops will be suspended, as will their eligibility for other state program benefits, and they must refund the government. Furthermore, those who post messages soliciting cash exchanges will have their information forwarded to the Technology Crime Suppression Division for legal action.

Anyone witnessing potentially fraudulent or illegal activity related to the Thai Chuey Thai Plus program can report tips to the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce, hotline 1569; Ministry of Finance at 02 273 9020 extensions 3697, 3527, 3548, or 3509; Krungthai Bank Public Company Limited at 02-111-1144 (24 hours); or the Royal Thai Police at 1559 (24 hours).

Ms. Ploytale further explained that the Thai Chuey Thai Plus program aims to assist people affected by the Middle East conflict and energy issues by easing living costs and daily expenses. It also supports grassroots economic stability while stimulating domestic spending through small retailers. The government subsidizes up to 60%, with citizens paying only 40%. She warned the public not to be deceived into exchanging their rights for cash, as this constitutes fraud.
