The firing of royal salutes is a tradition upheld worldwide since ancient times to show respect to nations or distinguished individuals by firing artillery with black powder or smokeless powder. The number of rounds corresponds to the level of honor. Currently, Thailand follows this tradition during royal birthday ceremonies, the Royal Coronation Ceremony, and receptions for monarchs or heads of state, conducting a 21-gun salute to express the highest respect.
