"Big Yom" accompanied 8 candidates for the Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) to campaign in Thonburi, starting with a walk through Tha Din Daeng Market before boarding a campaign vehicle targeting Wongwian Yai and Sasawech markets, highlighting the expansion of marketing channels to stimulate sales for local vendors.
At 9:00 a.m. on 3 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Police Lieutenant General Chanathep Sesavej, also known as "Big Yom," a candidate for Governor of Bangkok, together with a team of eight BMC candidates from Thonburi and adjacent districts, conducted a ground campaign to meet residents and listen to the economic concerns of market vendors. The activity began at Tha Din Daeng Market, coinciding with a busy shopping period, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Led by local candidate Mr. Jo- Songwut, BMC candidate for Khlong San District, number 1, the group introduced themselves to market vendors. Joining them were BMC candidates from neighboring districts, including Mr. Bantat Ritthibutr (Thonburi District, number 1), Mr. Phubodin Wongsangsri (Bangkok Yai District, number 2), Mr. Thanet Chusangroj (Bang Khae District, number 4), Mr. Boy-Sutin (Bang Khun Thian District, number 3), Mr. Songkran Pongpanna (Chom Thong District, number 5), Ms. Wasana Chahom (Bang Kho Laem District, number 3), and Ms. Natchaya Bankaeo (Thawi Watthana District, number 3). Together, they greeted and conversed with vendors, presenting policies on market management, welfare provision, and community economic promotion.
They boarded a campaign vehicle together with the BMC team.
After finishing their walk and greetings at Tha Din Daeng Market, Police Lieutenant General Chanathep and the eight BMC candidates boarded a campaign vehicle equipped with loudspeakers. They proceeded along main routes in the Thonburi area to broadcast their policies and candidate numbers, aiming to communicate with passersby and local residents throughout the alleys and neighborhoods.
The campaign vehicle then led the team to the market area around Wongwian Yai to meet vendors and passersby in this key economic zone. The procession then moved on to Sasawech Market in Thonburi, where they engaged with small business operators to discuss approaches for upgrading the community market’s cleanliness, hygiene standards, and expanding marketing channels to boost sales for local vendors.
During the field visit, Police Lieutenant General Chanathep stated that being on the ground this morning offered a clear view of the livelihoods and commerce of the people in Thonburi. He and the eight BMC candidates are committed to volunteering to address issues related to the local economy, living conditions, and transportation. Confident in their experience and unified collaboration between the Governor and BMC members in the area, they aim to develop Bangkok’s infrastructure to effectively meet the needs and solve problems for the public.
