Chaiwat exposed that half of the city's communication cables are abandoned junk, with some evading fees, criticizing the previous administration for neglecting public safety within the community.
On 3 June 2026, Mr. Chaiwat Sathawornwijit, candidate number 10 for Bangkok Governor from the Prachachon Party, along with Mr. Amarin Swasayanupap, known as “Lawyer Rambo,” candidate number 3 for the Din Daeng district council, visited Din Daeng district to inspect and examine the problem of tangled communication cables that have been neglected, causing long-standing inconvenience and safety hazards to local residents.
Mr. Chaiwat revealed that Bangkok currently has a vast number of communication cables crossing public areas. Upon inspection, more than half are no longer functional or are old cables unused but not removed. Furthermore, some cables have not paid the required fees but continue to illegally occupy city public spaces. In fact, Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has full legal authority to manage this issue.
"This problem is not due to lack of budget or authority to resolve it, but depends on the will of the BMA leadership—whether they have the courage and commitment to stop letting citizens face daily life-threatening risks," Mr. Chaiwat stated.
He added that if the Prachachon Party is given the opportunity to govern Bangkok, they will seriously organize this issue with urgent measures including surveying and creating a detailed database categorizing cables as active, obsolete, or non-paying. Then, using legal powers, they will immediately cut and remove unauthorized cables to prevent abandoned wires from posing risks to the people of Bangkok any longer.
He also cited the example of the “On Nut waste plant,” where the Prachachon Party had continuously proposed solutions to the BMA but received no serious response, reflecting that solving city problems depends on the decisiveness of the leadership.
"If entrusted to govern Bangkok, we affirm we will make firm decisions to protect the people's interests because a city that cares starts by not neglecting the problems people face daily. That is the beginning of a ‘Simple Bangkok’ that will become reality during the Prachachon Party governor’s term," Mr. Chaiwat concluded.
