Good News: First Batch of Royal-Granted Cancer Drug Imcranib 100 Delivered to Government Pharmaceutical Organization, Ready to Help Universal Health Coverage Patients

The government announces good news that the first batch of the royal-granted cancer drug “Imcranib 100” has been delivered to the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, with plans to distribute it to hospitals across the country to help universal health coverage patients access cancer treatment comprehensively and equally.

On 4 June 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamee Saengchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, revealed that by the boundless graciousness of Professor Dr. Somdet Phra Chao Nong Nang Thoe Princess Chulabhorn Walailak, the Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn, President and Chairwoman of the Chulabhorn Royal Academy Council, a total of 690,000 tablets of the targeted cancer treatment drug “Imcranib 100” were royally granted to the National Health Security Office (NHSO) on the occasion of the 4 July 2026 birthday, under the “69th Birthday Anniversary Cancer Drug Project.”

Ms. Ploytale stated that on 2 June 2026, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Plant under the Chulabhorn Royal Academy completed production and delivered the first batch of the drug to the distribution center of the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), which serves as the main distribution hub for the NHSO. All warehousing and shipment processes were conducted strictly under Good Distribution Practice (GDP) standards to maintain the highest drug quality and safety until reaching patients. Subsequently, the GPO will take over distribution of “Imcranib 100” to healthcare units and hospitals nationwide following the NHSO’s distribution plan, enabling patients under the universal health coverage system to access modern treatments comprehensively and equitably.

The targeted cancer treatment drug “Imcranib 100” works by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosine kinase, effectively blocking cancer cell growth and spread. It offers efficient disease control with fewer side effects compared to traditional chemotherapy. The drug is used to treat various cancers, including chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), Philadelphia chromosome-positive acute lymphoblastic leukemia (Ph+ ALL), gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST), and rare skin cancer (DFSP). The delivery of this first batch marks a significant step in advancing Thailand’s public health system in line with the steadfast royal intention to remove economic barriers, improve quality of life, and provide equitable access to modern treatments for Thai citizens.
