Yotsanan Confident in Pheu Thais Structure with Paethongtarn as Advisor to Drive Party Forward

Yotsanan affirms full dedication to national administration for the country's progress, confident in Pheu Thai's structural mechanism with Paethongtarn as advisor collaborating to drive the party forward.

At 11:30 a.m. on 4 Jun 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Mr. Yotsanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, serving as a party-list MP for Pheu Thai Party (PT), spoke about Ms. Pinthongta Shinawatra Kunakornwong, daughter of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who mentioned that Thaksin assigned Mr. Yotsanan and Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra as advisors and heads of the Pheu Thai family to manage and oversee the party. Regarding whether Thaksin entrusted anything specific, Yotsanan clarified that the administration of the country must be separated. As cabinet members, they already have full authority and each is working diligently. For party management, there is already an existing structure. Currently, Pheu Thai has a framework in which Ms. Paethongtarn will oversee party management to appropriately drive the party forward.

When asked if it seemed from the news that Thaksin would not interfere and would step back by entrusting Mr. Yotsanan and Ms. Paethongtarn to take charge, Yotsanan replied that, as previously stated, regarding the cabinet, they are already fully carrying out their duties. For party management, it follows the party’s regulations, and Ms. Paethongtarn is already serving as an advisor.

Asked whether political negotiations would be jointly managed with full authority alongside Ms. Paethongtarn, Yotsanan affirmed once again that they are working wholeheartedly, with everything aimed at moving the country forward.

When questioned about the possibility of stepping up to become Pheu Thai party leader, Yotsanan said, "No, definitely not." Everything follows the party’s management structure. It has already been clarified that last month there was a party restructuring, which he believes will enable them to effectively propel the party forward.

Asked if there would be opportunities to consult on working with Thaksin since he is a former prime minister, Yotsanan stated frankly that while working on government administration, there are established procedures and regulations. Party management also operates according to the party’s mechanisms.
