“Akkaranan” Gathers Ideas to Shape the Future of Education, Aiming to Reduce Teacher Workload and Expand Access for Vulnerable Groups

Deputy Minister of Education Akkaranan gathered ideas to plan the future of education by reducing teacher workload and promoting learning opportunities, breaking all barriers—classrooms, military camps, temples, and prisons—with the aim of expanding access to vulnerable groups without leaving anyone behind.

On 4 June 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Akkaranan Kankittinan, Deputy Minister of Education, convened a meeting with his advisory team to brainstorm educational ideas for jointly driving integrated policies focused on concretely reducing teacher workload. The goal is to elevate the quality of learning for learners of all ages and to expand educational opportunities to reach vulnerable groups comprehensively. This marks an important step in policy direction, drawing from experts across various fields to design approaches that address the needs of both teachers and learners within Thailand’s education system.

Mr. Akkaranan said, “Today, we are not only addressing immediate problems but laying a solid foundation for the future progress of Thai education. Reducing teacher workload must be genuinely realized, not just an idea on paper. At the same time, we must ensure learning is accessible to everyone, especially vulnerable groups who should not be left behind. Learning should not be confined to classrooms; we will extend opportunities to all social groups, including military conscripts, monks and novices, and prisoners, so education can serve as a tool for life renewal and sustainably reduce inequality.”

“Good education and learning must provide opportunities, not impose limitations. Therefore, we need to make the system flexible, modern, and responsive to learners’ lives at every stage. Education must truly be an opportunity for everyone, regardless of their social status. Everyone must have access to education. Human development should not be restricted by life circumstances.”

The Ministry of Education plans to use proposals from this meeting to develop policy measures that will drive Thai education toward greater effectiveness, inclusiveness, and equity.
