Constitutional Court Orders Submission of Evidence on 400 Billion Baht Loan Decree Within 7 Days

The Constitutional Court has ordered involved parties to submit written opinions on the 400 billion baht loan decree according to specified issues, along with supporting evidence, within seven days.

On 4 Jun 2026 GMT+7, the Constitutional Court reviewed a case initiated by 133 Members of Parliament, representing no less than one-fifth of the total MPs. They jointly petitioned the Speaker of the House, alleging that the Emergency Decree granting the Ministry of Finance authority to borrow funds to address the energy crisis and promote the country's energy transition in 2026 violates Section 172, Paragraph One of the Constitution. The petition requested the Constitutional Court to adjudicate under Section 173, Paragraph One of the Constitution. The Court ruled that, for the purpose of thorough consideration, all relevant parties must submit written opinions addressing points specified by the Court and provide related documents and evidence within seven days from the date of receiving this notice, to assist in the Court's ruling.
