Dr. Joe Promotes Policies to Develop Children and Youth, Pushes for Early Childhood Development Centers

Chaiwat emphasized Bangkok's role in developing youth from early childhood centers to sports venues, pointing out that for children to grow well, the city must contribute. He affirmed that the development of a child is not the sole burden of the family alone, and the city has an important supporting role.

On 4 June 2026, Mr. Chaiwat Sathawarawijit, candidate for Governor of Bangkok, number 10, from the People’s Party, visited Nong Chok district along with Mr. Yokpornchai Isarasreepong, candidate for the Bangkok Council in Nong Chok District, number 1, and Mr. Wallop Triruekgam, the People’s Party Bangkok management team, to present policies aimed at enhancing Bangkok’s role in developing children and youth to grow with quality.

Mr. Chaiwat said that he visited the Paendinthong Indarulemina Community Early Childhood Development Center to listen to the center’s needs and met with Kru Fahsai, a teacher at the center. Besides being a teacher, Kru Fahsai plays a key role in pushing the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration ordinance on early childhood development centers, working alongside Mr. Ekkawin Chokprasapruay, a candidate for the Bangkok Council in Ratchathewi District from the People’s Party.

Mr. Chaiwat added that the ordinance the People’s Party promoted aimed to upgrade Bangkok’s early childhood development centers by broadening the definition of such centers, elevating the status of child caregivers, adjusting the age criteria for children receiving care, and increasing budget flexibility to better benefit children.

However, the People’s Party’s intention goes beyond that. They aim to develop early childhood centers to better meet the needs of Bangkok families by accepting children from six months old, extending opening hours until 6 p.m., opening learning spaces for children and families on weekends, investing in upgrading centers to meet standards, and securing stable employment for teachers and child caregivers under labor laws.

Mr. Chaiwat continued that quality youth development includes health matters. He visited Bangkok Arena, a large indoor multi-sport stadium with a capacity of up to 12,000 people, to propose developing it as a multi-purpose sports venue for the public. They also plan to upgrade other Bangkok sports fields and centers to meet standards. The People’s Party has several sports-related policies, including City Run Bangkok and Bangkok Food Marathon, which link sports, food, and tourism to promote both public health and the city’s economy, as well as creating spaces for youth to exercise and showcase their talents.

"The People’s Party and I believe that Bangkok’s children and youth have talents but lack sufficient spaces to fully display their potential. Often, when such spaces are opened, there is no system to support or continue opportunities for youth. Therefore, we want to promote the Bangkok Youth League, a city-level youth sports league, with all 50 districts sending representative teams to compete in a unified system. We will also develop an athlete database to allow clubs, universities, and scouts access, providing Bangkok’s youth real opportunities to grow based on their abilities," he said.

Mr. Chaiwat said the city must play a role beyond just being a place to live; it must be crucial in fostering quality youth development. As a father, he understands that all parents want to see their children grow happily, healthily, and receive appropriate development.

Developing one child is not the sole responsibility of the family; the city also has an important role in supporting a child’s growth. The People’s Party thus proposes a set of 'Easy Parenting' policies to make Bangkok a city that helps alleviate parents’ burdens and makes raising children with quality easier.
