Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Unconcerned as Constitutional Court Summons Experts on Loan Decree, Emphasizes Trust in Finance Ministry

Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt said the Constitutional Court summoning experts to provide opinions on the loan decree is a normal process. He emphasized he is not worried and that there must be trust in the Ministry of Finance's urgent assessment of the situation.

At 07:00 on 5 June 2026 at the Government House, Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt was interviewed regarding the Constitutional Court's request for involved parties to submit additional opinions on the issuance of the 400-billion-baht loan decree within seven days. He stated that the government does not need to provide further explanations as all statements have already been submitted. From following the news, he personally believes that the Constitutional Court's decision to have 4-5 experts give additional academic opinions, as specified by the court, is normal in all cases. The government's submissions cannot be disclosed because the process is ongoing. However, after the court receives the additional expert opinions, it will schedule a meeting to decide the next steps. He stressed this is a normal procedure.

When asked if the government remains concerned about the issue, Pakorn said the government is not worried, and personally he is not concerned because the time to worry most was before issuing the decree and any law. Making laws requires responsibility, and the government is confident that at that time the situation was urgent and necessary for maintaining the country's economic stability. At that time, the situation was uncertain and the financial condition was not good. Therefore, this approach was necessary, and the Ministry of Finance, as the government's steward, must be trusted regarding any impact on the country's economic security. Speaking about it after the situation has changed is always possible.
