The Speaker of the House leads more than 2,000 government officials and parliamentary employees in the volunteer activity "Hundreds of Loyal Hearts Creating Good for Society," initiating teams to pay respect to the national flag at 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every day.
On 5 June 2026 at 8:00 a.m. at the Parliament, Mr. Sophon Sarum, Speaker of the House of Representatives, along with the management of the Secretariat of the House, government officials, and employees totaling around 2,000 people, joined a volunteer public service activity under the project "Hundreds of Loyal Hearts Creating Good for Society." This honored the royal celebration of the Queen’s 4th cycle (48th) birthday anniversary on 3 June 2026, held at the plaza of King Prajadhipok the Great's monument, where they took an oath to perform their duties.
Mr. Sophon said in an interview that since the 27th House of Representatives, there has been a determination to make this parliament a working body for the nation in many dimensions. Beyond the MPs’ meetings, the parliament building will be renovated as a landmark, referencing how parliaments in other countries serve as national symbols and green lungs. Regarding officials, besides supporting MPs’ duties, there will be development to make them serve society through self-improvement and volunteer projects that help the community.
The Speaker added that personnel development will cover many dimensions, including physical health through exercise projects promoting aerobics and jogging, and mental development through meditation practice. He believes that success requires holistic development—both physical structures and natural surroundings, such as the beautiful Chao Phraya River and the stately parliament building, which must be utilized fully. He hopes the new parliament will inspire hope and drive the country forward alongside the executive branch by rigorously handling legislation and intensifying its role in social assistance. He also announced a plan to have teams assembled at Parliament at 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. every day to pay respect to the national flag.
