Chayachonok revealed that he has talked with Meta to curb the issue of obscene live clips, planning to increase content blocking precision and coordinating with the police to prosecute networks distributing such clips.
On 5 June 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Chayachonok Chidchop, Minister of Digital Economy and Society, spoke about progress in discussions with online platforms regarding the obscene live stream case. He said Meta has lowered its detection threshold, and since then, no similar incidents have occurred. They have enhanced content detection precision for such material, though the company warned this might inadvertently block other content. Nevertheless, this step is necessary.
Further talks will explore additional measures, especially concerning advertising, which has received positive responses for implementation. A pilot will begin within the investment sector, and if successful, will expand to other sectors, particularly advertising.
Moreover, additional data shows that offenses at that time involved networks beyond just the single clip seen. Facebook has removed the clip, collected information, and purged related content from other platforms. This data will be provided to the Royal Thai Police to pursue the offending networks further.
Chayachonok also stated that legal procedures must be expedited to encourage more rapid action, aiming to reduce processing time to less than 24 hours. The regulation revision period is expected to be brief, currently under study to determine the appropriate timeframe that ensures fairness for all parties. This effort will extend beyond Meta to other platforms, although those platforms have already shown faster response and better cooperation.
