Prime Minister Assures Governments Readiness to Protect Citizens from Scammers and All Forms of Crime, Vows to Prevent Foreigners Using Nominees

The Prime Minister confirmed that the government is ready to protect citizens from all forms of crime, particularly scams and transnational crimes, and firmly stated that foreigners will not be permitted to use Thai nationals as nominees for business operations.

At 1:30 p.m. on 5 June 2026, at the Phakdi Bodin Building of the Government House, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired the first meeting of 2026 of the Committee for the Prevention and Suppression of Technology Crime and Transnational Crime. Relevant agencies participated, including the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DES), Ministry of Defense, Royal Thai Police, Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC), and Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC).

The Prime Minister said today marks the first meeting since he appointed this committee on 11 May. One of the government's key policies is to ensure the safety and security of people’s lives and property, protecting them from all forms of crime, including drugs, fraud, terrorism, cyber scams, money laundering, and other crimes that threaten the safety of both Thai and foreign residents.

He added that the government has continuously directed all relevant agencies to seriously and consistently suppress these crimes, especially the operations of scammers, drug networks, and crimes impacting public safety. He expressed appreciation for the cooperation from all agencies in fully supporting government policies, noting the significant results from various cases that have built public confidence in the government's commitment to securing lives and property.

At the same time, the number of foreigners residing and doing business in Thailand has increased significantly, particularly due to regional conflicts. These individuals engage in occupations and businesses that compete with Thai people, often using Thais as representatives or nominees to conduct transactions such as land and property ownership, as well as businesses like hotels, private educational institutions, and restaurants. This has led to sizable foreign communities forming in various areas, conducting exclusive group activities inaccessible to outsiders. If left unchecked, this situation could escalate into major problems in the future, causing harm to the economy, society, and public security.

Therefore, the establishment of this committee underscores the importance placed on combating all types of crime, with a focus on scammers and transnational crime, to manage these issues effectively according to the circumstances, minimizing damage and potential impacts in a concrete manner.

“The government will continue to protect the safety and security of the people’s lives and property. I urge everyone to remain committed and focused on the goal of effectively suppressing technology-related crimes and transnational crimes. This will enhance Thailand’s credibility, fostering confidence in the economy, investment, international trade partnerships, tourism, and international cooperation with Thailand. Achieving effective and sustained results in this area will bring tremendous benefits to our country.”
