Chadchart Explains Appointment and Transfer of Prawet District Director Followed Proper Procedures and Can Be Clarified

Chadchart and Prof. Dr. Tawida explained the issue of signing the transfer order for Prawet District Director on the last day before their term ended. They did not want to leave unfinished responsibilities for others. The process was carried out following the recommendations of the Integrity Protection Committee. Having no councilors (S.K.) in hand is not an obstacle to work.

On 5 June 2026, World Environment Day, Chadchart Sitthiphun, candidate for Bangkok governor number 9, campaigned in Suan Luang and Prawet districts. He spoke to the media near Paradise Park mall about the Prawet District Director's explanation regarding appointments and transfers, confirming that he is now a private citizen and has no authority to instruct civil servants. Each district director is a senior civil servant.

Regarding signing the order on the last day before the term ended, he said it was because he did not want to leave burdens for others. When problems arise, he wanted to resolve them promptly and take responsibility for his duties. The actions followed the recommendations of the Integrity Protection Committee.

Associate Prof. Dr. Tawida Kamolwetch, from the Bangkok Work Team, further explained that initially, the complainant filed a complaint with the Integrity Protection Committee (G.P.K.) about the selection process, not alleging corruption, misconduct, or any grounds for wrongdoing.

The G.P.K. ruled that the criteria were unclear, ordering cancellation and redevelopment of the process. The committee then completely revamped the procedures, selected a new examination committee, used criteria set by the G.P.K., and conducted new exams according to the steps.

Regarding the second complaint, Prof. Dr. Tawida said it arose from 17 civil servants temporarily suspended from their posts, who returned to previous positions, affecting their salaries and allowances. They filed complaints about damages from reassignment. Every step was confirmed to follow regulations and all appointments were explainable by the criteria.

Chadchart commented on working with councilors (S.K.), saying that not having S.K. in hand is not a problem because local elections separately elect councilors and the governor. This system clearly supports checks and balances. He affirmed he can work with all political parties.

"I have worked with councilors from Democrat, Pheu Thai, independents, and those in the working group—whoever they are, I can work with them all. This is the system designed, and everyone scrutinizes me thoroughly," Chadchart said.

Chadchart also spoke about his commitment to environmental campaigning, stating that his campaign for Bangkok governor emphasized the importance of the environment and efforts to reduce greenhouse gases. The campaign included promoting EV use and minimizing campaign signs, reflecting a vision for sustainable urban development.
