Anutin to Establish Five Subcommittees to Combat Transnational Crime, Intensify Crackdown on Scammers

The Prime Minister announced a continued crackdown on "scammers and foreign nominees" by establishing five subcommittees to combat transnational crime after cybercrime cases dropped by more than 50.9%, expressing confidence that all agencies will intensify integrated efforts continuously and vigorously.

On 5 June 2026 at the Government House, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired the first meeting of the 2026 Technology and Transnational Crime Prevention and Suppression Steering Committee.

Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the meeting thoroughly discussed various aspects of technology and transnational crime, including security, law enforcement, finance, money laundering, and cyber threats. The session lasted over two hours to exchange information and set collaborative operational guidelines among all involved agencies.

Previously, the government ordered all relevant agencies to intensify continuous and serious efforts to suppress such crimes, especially targeting scam networks, drug trafficking, and technology-related offenses. This has yielded tangible results, reducing technology crime cases from 34,478 to just 16,920—a decrease of over 50.9%. The financial damage to the public fell from 2,224 million baht to 513 million baht, a reduction exceeding 63.2% (data from July 2025 to May 2026). Additionally, 1,494 scam-related suspects were arrested, over 57 million baht in cash seized, and 808 victims assisted (data from 1 Oct 2025 to 26 May 2026).

The Prime Minister praised and thanked all involved agencies for their dedication, sacrifice, and full integration efforts to protect the safety of people’s lives and property, as well as to maintain the country's security in all dimensions. He expressed confidence that all agencies understand the problems well. Despite Thailand’s capabilities and readiness in many areas, some obstacles remain that hinder development and progress, requiring serious and continuous cooperation from all sectors to address.

“The government is fully supportive of all agencies' operations. This steering committee, chaired by the Prime Minister, includes representatives from all key sectors to oversee, monitor, and drive unified and effective actions to produce concrete results,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that with the knowledge, skills, experience, and commitment of the committee and all relevant agencies, they will successfully advance key missions to enhance security, public order, and sustainable national development for the utmost benefit of the people and the country.

The Technology and Transnational Crime Prevention and Suppression Steering Committee is chaired by the Prime Minister and includes relevant deputy prime ministers, ministers, and permanent secretaries from economic, security, justice, foreign affairs, and digital economy and society ministries, along with senior officials from security, law enforcement, financial regulatory, cyber, and other related agencies. This integration aims to coordinate efforts to prevent and suppress technology and transnational crimes effectively and coherently.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed draft orders to appoint five subcommittees for the Prime Minister, as committee chair, to sign and approve.

1.) Subcommittee for Investigation and Suppression of Technology and Transnational Crimes, chaired by the Minister of Justice.

2.) Subcommittee for Prevention of Technology and Transnational Crimes, chaired by the Minister of Digital Economy and Society.

3.) Subcommittee for Proactive Public Relations to Prevent Technology and Transnational Crimes, chaired by Police Lieutenant General Trairong Phiwpan.

4.) Subcommittee for Linking Financial Data to Enhance Monitoring of Suspicious Financial Transactions, chaired by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance.

5.) Subcommittee for Reviewing Laws on Prevention and Suppression of Technology and Transnational Crimes, chaired by the Minister of Justice.
