Attawit Urges Strict Inspection of Xinke Yuan Steel After Restart, Warns Against Selling Substandard Steel

Attawit urges strict inspection of "Xinke Yuan" steel, asking clearly whether a ladle furnace for refining molten steel is in place after the company reopened, and warns firmly against allowing substandard steel to be sold.

On 6 June 2026 GMT+7, Attawit Suwanpakdee, a party-list MP from the United Thai Nation Party, posted on Facebook regarding Xinke Yuan Steel, the steel producer for the Office of the Auditor General (OAG) building that collapsed due to the 2025 earthquake. He noted that the company has resumed operations and asked, "Has the ladle furnace for refining molten steel been installed?"

Attawit stated he calls for random inspections during actual production and sales, not just scheduled machinery tests. He explained that IF steel bars’ quality is well controlled only when a ladle furnace is used. Without it, if the scrap metal quality is poor, the molten steel standard will be inconsistent.

When working with the “Team Sudsoi” as advisor to the Minister of Industry, he found that “Xinke Yuan does not have a ladle furnace.” He questioned whether old steel stock, with ongoing QC issues, is now being sold. Steel forms the main structure of houses and buildings, so safety must be absolute. Standards must not be compromised.
