Government to Advance TH-AI Passport Project Following Poll Showing 63.7% Public Support, Emphasizing Transparency and Accountability

Lalida revealed that the government is ready to proceed with developing the TH-AI Passport project after a poll showed 63.7% public support, emphasizing a transparent approach using AI to address livelihood issues, reduce inequality, and create opportunities for all Thai groups.

On 6 June 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Lalida Pertvivattana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that the government, led by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, has acknowledged the findings of a public opinion survey by Super Poll Research Institute on "Public Demand for AI." The survey reflects widespread awareness and acceptance of artificial intelligence (AI) technology among Thais, with 91.2% familiar with or having heard of AI, and 72.5% having used AI in daily life, education, work, or occupation. This indicates that Thailand is concretely advancing into the digital era and knowledge-based economy.

The Deputy Spokesperson said the survey also found that 63.7% of the public agree that the government should continue with the TH-AI Passport project, provided it is implemented transparently, is verifiable, and genuinely benefits the people. This aligns with the government's approach, which follows principles of good governance and aims to use technology as a tool to enhance quality of life, reduce inequality, and increase economic opportunities for all groups.

“The government thanks the public for their interest and attention to the government's AI initiatives. This survey reflects that Thais see AI not just as modern technology but as an important tool for improving quality of life, creating careers, increasing income, and boosting economic opportunities. Therefore, the government is prepared to carefully, transparently, and accountably develop the TH-AI Passport project, prioritizing tangible benefits for the people,” Ms. Lalida said.

The Deputy Spokesperson added that the survey clearly shows public demand for AI to be used to solve livelihood problems and enhance the country's capabilities. Specifically, 91.7% want the government to promote AI to increase income, reduce costs, and create business opportunities; 88.5% want AI to help improve economic competitiveness; 87.2% want equal access to AI knowledge and usage; 85.3% want AI to enhance education and develop Thai workforce skills; while 83.1% and 81.6% want AI to play roles in public safety and supporting vulnerable groups such as children, youth, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

The government is ready to use these public recommendations to guide policy implementation, focusing on five key areas: using AI to increase income and reduce costs for people; enhancing the country's competitive edge; reducing digital inequality; developing human capital through education and workforce skill upgrades; and using AI to improve safety and quality of life for vulnerable groups.

Moreover, the government acknowledges public calls for a comprehensive AI support system, including training, access to AI tools, establishing community learning centers, and expert consultation. Relevant agencies will be tasked to collaborate and design support measures that effectively meet public needs across all areas.

“The government views the TH-AI Passport not merely as a technology project but as a long-term investment in national human capital development. It is a key mechanism to prepare Thais to use AI to create careers, generate income, and increase competitiveness in the new world. The government will continue to build an AI ecosystem that ensures equal, transparent access and real benefits for all people,” Ms. Lalida concluded.
