Anucha Campaigns in Suan Luang District Confident Despite Poll Lag, Vows Honest Politics and Five Key Policies to Win Public Support

Anucha campaigns vigorously in Suan Luang district, emphasizing increased public park safety and upgraded exercise equipment. He remains unfazed by trailing polls and vows to practice honest politics, affirming five policies that appeal to the people.

At 6:30 a.m. on 6 June 2026, at Suan Luang Rama IX Park in Suan Luang district, Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, candidate for Bangkok governor from the Democrat Party, number 5, was joined by Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader, and party executives including Mr. Korn Chatikavanij and Mr. Sakolthee Phattiyakul, deputy party leaders, Dr. Kanj Leowphairoj, deputy party leader, Mr. Ongart Klamphaiboon, party leader's advisor, as well as candidates for councilor positions: Mr. Natchakorn Cherdchookijkul (Suan Luang, number 5), Mr. Thanawat Cherdchookijkul (Prawet, number 5), Mr. Trisit Siriwan (Phra Khanong, number 4), and Mr. Siworot Saengcharot (Bang Na, number 1).

Mr. Anucha greeted people exercising at the park, inquiring about available facilities. Some offered encouragement, saying, “Number 5, keep fighting!” He also tested the exercise equipment and asked about its maintenance. Additionally, Mr. Anucha and Mr. Abhisit ran together, greeting the public along the way.

Mr. Anucha stated that this morning he visited Suan Luang Rama IX Park, aiming to see connections to Bueng Nong Bon. He stressed the need to enhance security in parks—even though CCTV is installed, he wants more security officers patrolling the area regularly, as criminals sometimes infiltrate and there are many blind spots without cameras.

Secondly, since many elderly people use the park for exercise, he wants to add more seating areas for rest throughout the park. Thirdly, regarding tree and plant maintenance, sometimes the vegetation appears dry; thus, he urges Bangkok authorities to improve care and upkeep to keep the greenery healthy at all times.

Mr. Anucha emphasized that fourthly, various buildings in the park may currently be underutilized. These should be developed to maximize their benefits because while people exercise in the mornings and evenings, during the day these spaces remain empty and unused. This is an area for potential improvement.

Moreover, he mentioned transportation: although public transit exists nearby, access remains difficult. Therefore, there is a need for connecting public vehicles to facilitate easier travel for residents. He also stressed cleanliness as essential for parks, aiming to enhance their appearance and maintain higher standards of hygiene.

Mr. Anucha added that regarding exercise equipment, if possible, he would like to relocate it to shaded areas. This requires further consideration since exposure to sun and rain reduces the equipment’s lifespan and complicates maintenance. Proper storage and safety improvements for equipment are necessary.

Mr. Anucha continued that regarding the development of vacant spaces in Bangkok’s districts, community needs vary. The party’s policy is a win-win approach, involving dialogue about land and building taxes. They intend to consult locals on desired uses and approach landowners to discuss alternatives to planting gardens that might reduce taxes but limit full land utilization. The party’s 50 councilor candidates are actively working on this according to Democrat Party policies, analyzing which areas can be optimized.

Asked about allegations of corruption in Bangkok, Mr. Anucha said that since Mr. Abhisit returned as party leader, the focus has been on honest politics. Local governance must be transparent and accountable. Last week they launched the “Sóng Rat” platform, demonstrating serious action rather than mere policy statements, proving their commitment.

“In the future, if complaints arise about any official at any level, people can report irregularities directly. The Democrat Party does not wait for courts to confirm wrongdoing before taking political responsibility; this is a customary practice we uphold,” he said.

When asked about trailing in polls, Mr. Anucha said it is actually beneficial. The closer they are behind, the more the public rallies to support them. Voters have consistently told them to present policies that truly resonate. Besides solving Bangkok’s problems, the party aims to create opportunities and hope for a better future. These proposals, combined with problem-solving, represent what the Democrat Party wants to do for both the governor and councilor candidates. Feedback has improved across districts, with old supporters pledging to return to vote—a promise reflecting their teamwork.

Abhisit Supports Government’s Use of Law to Crack Down on Foreign Crime

Meanwhile, Mr. Abhisit addressed the Prime Minister’s meeting on combating foreign crime exploitation in Thailand, saying that this issue has drawn complaints from various parts of the country. It involves law enforcement challenges and some Thai individuals’ participation. He supports serious action but cautions against merely using this for political momentum or emotional appeal; the law must be enforced earnestly.

He added that misunderstandings and negative images must be avoided—for example, when a tourist site was affected by news coverage causing people to hesitate to visit.

“We are not opposed to foreigners, whether workers or investors, who are essential to our economy. However, there must be clarity: first, compliance with laws; second, government policies should ensure investments connect with Thai people, creating income opportunities rather than building isolated empires,” he said.

At 8:30 a.m., Mr. Anucha, party executives, and councilor candidates rode a campaign truck along Chalerm Phrakiat Road to Boonruang Market in Prawet district, canvassing for votes. The atmosphere was lively, with citizens offering garlands, roses, photos, and encouragement.

Later, at 10:00 a.m., Mr. Anucha and party executives paid respects to Phra Kru Palat Theeraworawat, abbot of Wat Taklam. The abbot inquired about the campaign and engaged in a Dharma discussion, offering blessings for success for both candidates.
