Siriraj Faculty of Medicine collaborates with the Thaicom Foundation and partner networks to advance the project "Light Leading the Thai Nation: Walk, Run, Bike to Prevent Stroke."

On 6 June 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Wan Muhamad Nor Matha, Chairman of the Prime Minister's Advisory Council, attended the press conference launching the 12th "Light Leading the Thai Nation: Walk, Run, Bike to Prevent Stroke" project at Siriraj Faculty of Medicine. This event was organized by the Siriraj Stroke Center in partnership with government agencies, private sectors, and supporting organizations nationwide. The campaign honors His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen, who serve as inspiring figures encouraging Thai people to maintain good health. It aims to promote exercise and healthy behavior changes to prevent stroke.

The press conference atmosphere was warm and attracted high-level executives and experts from various fields. Khun Ying Pojaman Damapong, along with Pinthongtha Shinawatra Kunakornwong, Executive Board Member and Secretary-General of the Thaicom Foundation, participated and showed strong support. This project is a nationwide health promotion activity that the Thaicom Foundation has long supported alongside the Siriraj Stroke Center and partner agencies for 12 years. Its shared goal is to raise public awareness about stroke symptoms, warning signs, and prevention methods. Stroke remains a leading cause of death and disability among the Thai population today.

This campaign focuses on educating under the theme "Stroke: 4 Diseases, 6 Behaviors, Know and Act to Prevent." It aims to reinforce understanding of risk factors and encourage lifestyle changes through simple exercises like walking, running, or cycling. Regular practice of these activities can effectively reduce illness rates and ease medical expenses for families and the nation over time. The grand exercise event, the 12th "Walk, Run, Bike to Prevent Stroke," is scheduled simultaneously across all provinces of Thailand on Sunday, 1 November 2026 GMT+7, enabling people nationwide to participate in showing loyalty and fostering health discipline together.
