
The government spokesperson revealed that Prime Minister Anutin will lead the Cabinet, military commanders, and private sector representatives on an official visit to Vietnam on 8-9 June. He will also participate in the ASEAN Future Forum to advance cooperation into tangible results between the countries.
7 June 2026 GMT+7 Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul is scheduled for an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and will attend the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) from 8-9 June 2026 in Hanoi to discuss with Vietnamese leaders and the private sector to further cooperation in all dimensions.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister will lead the Cabinet and senior Thai representatives, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Puangketkaew; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Anek Laothamatas; Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Phuangsuwan; Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office Pradorn Prissanantakul; Minister of Defense General Dul Boonthamcharoen; Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phanjaroenworakul; Minister of Energy Ekniti Nitithanprapas; and Minister of Industry Warawut Silpa-archa. Also joining are senior government agency executives, the Supreme Commander, military commanders, and leading private sector representatives from over 10 Thai companies investing in Vietnam to promote stronger cooperation between governments and businesses of Thailand and Vietnam.
The spokesperson added that this visit marks the Prime Minister’s first official trip to Vietnam following the successful official visit to Thailand by Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, on 28 May 2026. This visit represents an important step in strengthening the Thai-Vietnamese relationship.
During the visit, the Prime Minister will hold political-level talks with Vietnamese leaders, including the President, Prime Minister, and National Assembly Chairman. He will also meet with Thai private sector investors in Vietnam to push cooperation from good relations toward concrete outcomes as a shared goal.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will participate in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF), a strategic dialogue platform on ASEAN's future and development direction. Leaders, policymakers, business sectors, academics, and other stakeholders exchange views on key regional issues. Although the AFF has been held twice before, this is the first time the Thai Prime Minister will attend in person, reflecting Thailand’s emphasis on this forum and its close ties with Vietnam.
This year’s forum is held under the theme “Shaping our Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, People-Centered,” focusing on strengthening ASEAN’s role in addressing global challenges and uncertainties, promoting peace, prosperity, and a people-centered ASEAN community. Leaders attending include the Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Timor-Leste.
Key itinerary on 8 June 2026 includes the Prime Minister and delegation departing from Military Airport 2, Wing 6 at 08:00 AM, arriving at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, at 10:00 AM. They will then hold bilateral talks with senior Vietnamese leaders and meet with Thai private sector representatives operating in Vietnam. In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will attend an official welcome ceremony and full official talks at the Vietnamese Government Office, followed by a dinner hosted by the Vietnamese Prime Minister.
On 9 June 2026, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum at the Melia Hanoi Hotel. In the afternoon, he will participate in the Thailand–Vietnam Investment and Business Forum organized by the Board of Investment (BOI) before returning to Thailand that evening.
