Chadchart Still Leading in Poll for 2026 Bangkok Governor Election

NIDA Poll revealed survey results for the 2026 Bangkok governor election, indicating that "Chadchart" remains the leading candidate across all administrative districts. Meanwhile, for the Bangkok council members, independent candidates are expected to be chosen closely followed by the People's Party.


On 7 June 2026, the NIDA Poll Center at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) announced survey results on the topic "The First Phase of the 2026 Bangkok Governor Election" The survey was conducted from 2 to 4 June 2026 among citizens aged 18 and over with voting rights in Bangkok. It covered all 50 districts, spanning all education levels, occupations, and income groups, with a total sample size of 2,000 respondents. The survey focused on the voting trends for Bangkok governor and Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) members.

When asked about the voting trends of Bangkok residents for the Bangkok governor position, the findings were

  • 1st place: 67.30% named Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 10.20% were still unsure.
  • 3rd place: 8.20% named Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 4th place: 7.30% named Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).
  • 5th place: 3.10% named Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).
  • 6th place: 1.55% named Mom Luang Korakasiwat Kasemsri (Independent).
  • 7th place: 1.05% selected "Vote No" (no preference). Another 1.30% mentioned others, including Mr. Phasaphong Chaiwirinyavanich (Independent), Police Lieutenant General Chanthhep Sasawet (Economic Party), Ms. Lollana Mongkhon Hasadin (Independent), Mr. Somchai Charoenworakiat (Independent), Mr. Prateep Watcharachokkasem (Independent), Ms. Srirat Changpetch (Independent), and those who chose not to vote (No Vote).
  • These others included the candidates mentioned plus those who abstained from voting.

When examining Bangkok residents' governor voting trends by administrative district groupings, the results showed

1. Northern Bangkok districts:

  • 1st place: 70.56% chose Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 9.39% chose Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 3rd place: 9.14% were unsure.
  • 4th place: 4.06% chose Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).
  • 5th place: 3.80% chose Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).

2. Central Bangkok districts:

  • 1st place: 64.60% chose Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 11.00% were unsure.
  • 3rd place: 9.09% chose Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 4th place: 8.61% chose Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).
  • 5th place: 2.87% chose Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).

3. Eastern Bangkok districts:

  • 1st place: 70.53% chose Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 10.16% chose Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).
  • 3rd place: 8.33% were unsure.
  • 4th place: 6.29% chose Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 5th place: 2.85% chose Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).

4. Southern Bangkok districts:

  • 1st place: 62.99% chose Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 10.99% were unsure.
  • 3rd place: 9.52% chose Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 4th place: 8.06% chose Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).
  • 5th place: 4.03% chose Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).

5. Northern Thonburi districts:

  • 1st place: 63.77% chose Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 10.51% were unsure.
  • 3rd place: 7.25% chose Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).
  • 4th place: 6.52% chose Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 5th place: 2.89% chose Mom Luang Korakasiwat Kasemsri (Independent).

6. Southern Thonburi districts:

  • 1st place: 66.85% chose Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt (Independent).
  • 2nd place: 12.64% were unsure.
  • 3rd place: 9.27% chose Mr. Chaiwat Stawornwijit (People's Party).
  • 4th place: 5.90% chose Ms. Mallika Boonmitrkul Mahasuk (Independent).
  • 5th place: 2.25% chose Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri (Democrat Party).

Finally, when asked about the voting trends for Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) members, the findings were

  • 1st place: 29.10% favored Independent candidates.
  • 2nd place: 26.50% favored the People's Party.
  • 3rd place: 18.35% were undecided.
  • 4th place: 11.50% favored the Democrat Party.
  • 5th place: 6.05% favored the Pheu Thai Life Long and the Work Team groups equally.
  • 6th place: 1.15% selected "Vote No" (no preference).
  • Another 1.30% mentioned others including the Better Bangkok team, the Economic Party, and those who did not vote (No Vote).
