Chaiyanat urges a nationwide crackdown on nominee companies, not stopping at Huai Khwang, after the Ministry of Commerce discovered 53 companies. He indicates these cases may be transnational crimes, potentially causing Thailand to lose long-term national benefits.
7 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chaiyanat Detdecho, party-list Member of Parliament and Deputy Leader of the Democrat Party, commented on the case where the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce, found legal entities considered high-risk nominee groups in the Huai Khwang district, totaling 53 cases and forwarded the data to relevant agencies for in-depth investigation. He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Commerce for seriously enforcing the law but believes this effort should not be limited to Huai Khwang alone.
He urged the Ministry of Commerce to quickly expand inspections to other areas nationwide, especially places with significant foreign investment and asset ownership, such as Bangkok, Phuket Province, Krabi Province, and Koh Samui District in Surat Thani Province. He said there have been ongoing reports and complaints from the public about the use of Thai nationals as nominees to establish companies on behalf of foreigners, including land ownership and business operations through structures that may be designed to circumvent the law.
"This is not merely a general business law violation but resembles transnational criminal activity that affects the economy, business security, and opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs. Neglecting this will disadvantage Thai people in competition and cause the country to lose long-term benefits," he said.
Mr. Chaiyanat added that the Ministry of Commerce and related agencies must act seriously and continuously, not just issue press releases or take occasional action. They must conduct proactive investigations, track financial flows, and strictly enforce the law against all offenders.
"Please do not just make empty promises, as this issue directly concerns the interests of the public and the nation. The public is waiting to see concrete solutions and wants the government to demonstrate genuine commitment to suppress nominee companies and foreign capital seeking profit without respecting Thai law."
