On 8 June 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, accompanied by his wife, departed from Military Airport 2, Wing 6, Don Mueang, for an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. He will attend the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF) from 8–9 June 2026 in Hanoi to discuss with Vietnamese leaders and the private sector to further cooperation in all areas. The delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Akniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Supachai Sutthamman, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Defense General Dul Boonthamcharoen, Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Pancharoenworakul, Minister of Industry Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister to the Prime Minister’s Office Pradorn Prissanantakul, senior officials from related government agencies, the Supreme Commander, Air Force Commander, Navy Commander, and leading Thai private sector representatives with investments in Vietnam from more than 10 companies.

This visit marks the Prime Minister’s first trip to Vietnam following the highly successful official visit to Thailand by Nguyen Phu Trong, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, on 28 May, which represented an important step in strengthening Thailand–Vietnam relations.

During this visit, the Prime Minister will take the opportunity to hold political-level talks with Vietnamese leaders, including the President, Prime Minister, and Chairperson of the National Assembly. He will also meet with Thai private sector investors in Vietnam to promote cooperation from “good relations” toward “concrete and effective collaboration,” in line with their shared goals.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will participate in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF), a strategic platform discussing ASEAN’s future development direction. The forum gathers national leaders, policymakers, business sectors, academics, and other stakeholders to exchange views on key regional issues. Although the AFF has been held twice before, this is the first time the Thai Prime Minister will attend in person, reflecting Thailand’s emphasis on the forum and the close, strong ties between Thailand and Vietnam.

This year’s forum is held under the theme “Shaping our Future Together: Peace, Prosperity, People-Centered,” focusing on enhancing ASEAN’s role in addressing global challenges and uncertainties, promoting peace, prosperity, and building a people-centered ASEAN community. Leaders from several countries will attend, including the Prime Ministers of Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, and Timor-Leste.

Key schedule details: On 8 June 2026, the Prime Minister and delegation will depart Military Airport 2, Wing 6 at 08:00 and arrive at Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi, at 10:00. Afterwards, they will hold bilateral talks with senior Vietnamese leaders and meet with Thai private sector representatives operating in Vietnam.

In the afternoon, the Prime Minister will participate in an official welcome ceremony and a full delegation government meeting at the Vietnamese Government Office, followed by a dinner hosted by the Vietnamese Prime Minister.

On 9 June 2026, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum at the Melia Hanoi Hotel. In the afternoon, he will take part in the Thailand–Vietnam Investment and Business Forum organized by the Board of Investment (BOI) before returning to Thailand later that evening.
