Sawang Boonmee questioned the Election Commission (EC) regarding rumors that he failed the work evaluation and might lose his position as Secretary-General of the EC, stating he has no comment and affirming that his responsibilities for 2025 concluded back in September.
8 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Sawang Boonmee, Secretary-General of the Election Commission, commented on rumors that he would fail the work evaluation and be removed from his post as Secretary-General of the EC. He said, as the person being evaluated, he has no comment on this matter. However, tomorrow (9 June) there will be the 28th anniversary event of the EC. He then joked, saying he hopes the questions will be tougher next time they ask.
, Regarding rumors of a 4-3 vote to fail his evaluation, Mr. Sawang said he is not yet aware and will know when the decision is officially announced. He added that his duties for 2025 concluded in September, which is a matter between contractual parties. When asked if the matter might be referred to the Office of the Council of State for interpretation on whether the new EC committee's resolution must be used, Mr. Sawang briefly replied that it is a matter between contractual parties.
Regarding whether any EC members will attend tomorrow's event who can provide answers, Mr. Sawang said the EC office will inform them in due course.
