Anucha Leads Democrat Party Campaign at Lumphini Park Targeting Health Enthusiasts, Promises More Green Spaces and Fountains for Bangkok

Anucha and Abhisit led the Democrat Party team in campaigning at Lumphini Park, focusing on health-conscious groups by promoting more small parks, fountains, and upgrading community markets before listening to Bon Kai community residents to solve waste overflow problems.,

At 6:30 a.m. on 8 June 2026, Mr. Anucha Boonyachaisri, also known as James, candidate for Bangkok governor from the Democrat Party number 5, along with Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, party leader, and party executives including Mr. Sakolthee Phattiyakul, Karndee Liaoipiroj, Mr. Chaiyana Detdecho, Mr. Mekhin Iamsaad, Deputy Leader Mrs. Radklao Suwankiri, and advisor Mr. Ong-art Klamkaew, campaigned at Lumphini Park to support Mr. Thananarin Sirihiranpong, candidate for Pathumwan district council number 2. They met health-conscious groups such as senior members of the Tai Chi Club at Lumphini Park and greeted early morning exercisers, receiving positive responses with many requesting photos and sharing various issues. Afterwards, the group dined at Lumphini Park’s new food center.

Mr. Anucha outlined three main policy priorities to enhance Bangkok’s landscape and residents’ quality of life: First, increasing green spaces or 'lungs' for Bangkok as the city’s greenery has declined. The plan includes creating small parks in city corners or squares, inspired by foreign cities, to provide locals with nearby resting spots during the day rather than relying only on large parks. This also helps reduce pollution and dust. Second, improving the urban landscape with fountains and waterfalls. Historically, Bangkok had fountains or artificial waterfalls at intersections and roundabouts. The Democrat Party aims to restore fountains to refresh the cityscape, making Bangkok beautiful and lively again, responding directly to citizens’ expressed wishes.

Third, waste management and upgrading food centers. The party emphasized that despite public efforts to separate waste, irregular garbage collection and scavenging remain problems. Bangkok must implement a proper system. Additionally, food centers and markets will be modernized with large ventilation fans to improve airflow and reduce heat, enhancing comfort for both vendors and customers, thus raising overall quality of life in these areas.

Afterward, Mr. Anucha and the Democrat Party team visited the Bon Kai community to inspect the community housing buildings, which suffer from structural deterioration due to their age. They also encountered overflowing garbage chutes caused by inconsistent waste collection, leading to waste backing up, accumulating, and emitting strong odors. Residents explained that because of the community’s depth, some garbage disposal points are neglected for two to three weeks until district officials collect the trash, forcing residents to pile waste in unauthorized areas. This creates breeding grounds for pathogens, adversely affecting community health, especially near the sports ground where children gather. The issue can be resolved by scheduling timely and more frequent waste collections to restore cleanliness and reduce odors in the community.
