Chadchart Admits Distraction, Calls Agong System Nonsense Srisuwan Files Complaint with NACC

Bangkok gubernatorial election 2026: Chadchart admits losing focus after facing drama, calls the 'Agong system' issue nonsense. Instead of presenting policies to the public, the controversy arose. Srisuwan files a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Commission for investigation.

On 8 June 2026, Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, an independent candidate for Governor of Bangkok, arrived at Thairath's studio at 16:36. He then gave an interview before joining the special program “Game of City Control,” saying he was excited for his first debate but didn’t really like it because he sometimes couldn’t respond quickly enough. However, he accepted it as his duty.

Regarding various issues arising during the campaign, Chadchart stated he wished the focus would be more on policies. Recently, the matters turned trivial, and those setting the agenda seemed unrelated, causing the media to waste much time on these issues. Consequently, they ended up being guided by these individuals. Personally, he wants to emphasize policies, and if he can talk more about them, that would be good. He also thanked Mr. Wiroj Lakkhanadisorn for his apt remarks.

On the issue of some candidates for the Bangkok Council (BMC) distributing introduction leaflets alongside Chadchart’s, he said if campaign assistants distributed his biography without authorization, it could mislead people. He never campaigned for others. “Don’t campaign for me; don’t mislead people because it’s legally wrong. The legal team will handle it. I don’t pay close attention to details, but the key is not to mislead voters about the vote count. This is important. Those who dislike me may not vote for those candidates, which has pros and cons.” He added that from the start of his candidacy, he warned not to use his image in campaigning to avoid confusion.

Meanwhile, Chadchart confirmed he is an independent candidate unaffiliated with any group. However, having worked with BMC members for four years, he appreciates some he likes, including independent councilors and political parties he is familiar with because they work well, transparently, and without issues. Still, he does not align with any single group. He urged people to carefully consider the BMC members as their performance affects everyone. The Bangkok electoral system is independent for both governor and councilor elections. The councilors serve as checks and balances to enhance transparency and integrity. He believes he can work with everyone.

Regarding district director appointments, recently Mr. Srisuwan Janya, leader of the Rak Chat Rak Phandin organization, filed a petition with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) requesting an investigation and ruling on Chadchart. The complaint concerns allegations by two politicians from two parties accusing him of allowing “Agong” to broker the buying and selling of senior Bangkok government positions, constituting corruption, dereliction of duty, or abuse of power against constitutional or legal provisions. Chadchart responded, “That’s fine. No problem. Mr. Srisuwan investigates everyone. No issues at all. Go ahead.”

However, when asked if he was concerned about daily controversies affecting him, Chadchart admitted it distracted him from focusing on policy, which needs further development. Instead, he had to respond to the 'Agong system' issue, which has lasted a week without substance or concrete evidence. He requested the media to focus on matters beneficial to the public.
