Three Bangkok Governor Candidates Propose Missing Link to Solve Railway Crossing Issues Using AI Integration and Strict Law Enforcement

"City Control Game" - a special program title. Three candidates for Bangkok governor promote a "missing link" solution to railway crossing problems, proposing AI-based system integration and strict law enforcement.

On 8 June 2026, Thairath TV Channel 32 and Thairath Online broadcast a special program. "City Control Game" The program challenges prospective Bangkok governor candidates to showcase their visions on effectively solving the capital's problems, delving deeply through challenging missions including a jigsaw puzzle challenge, a city crisis tier list, and critical questions for governors, hosted by Pa Toi and Kai Pongsakorn.

The candidates presenting their visions and problem-solving skills for Bangkok residents include: Mr. Anucha Boonpachaisri, Bangkok governor candidate from the Democrat Party, , Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, independent candidate for Bangkok governor, and Mr. Chaiwat Sathawornwijit, Bangkok governor candidate from the Prachachon Party.

After all three candidates had shared their visions, the first game segment began. The "Jigsaw Challenge" This involved revealing puzzle images for candidates to guess the location within Bangkok, with the first image being the "Makkasan railway crossing." The first to answer correctly was Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt.

When asked how he would solve the railway crossing issue, Mr. Chadchart said the solution involves pushing for an elevated railway and enforcing laws prohibiting vehicles from stopping across tracks. The key is collaboration among all relevant agencies and clear communication of regulations to the public for safety. He emphasized the need for serious, long-term planning.

Mr. Chaiwat Sathawornwijit stated that the railway crossing problem symbolizes systemic failure. Recent accidents are neither the first nor will be the last. Solutions must address both short- and long-term issues. In the short term, traffic signals must be synchronized with train signals and automated to reduce reliance on human control to prevent accidents. Long-term plans include the 'Missing Link' project, relocating trains underground or elevated to resolve crossing issues.

Mr. Anucha Boonpachaisri shared that since the accident, he has inquired with multiple agencies and learned there was already a plan to build a tunnel to solve the problem. Having trains enter the city is normal; the critical point is the traffic signals managed by Bangkok authorities to ensure safety, which must align with police regulations. Intersections should avoid manual control and instead use AI-connected systems for safety. Additionally, the Department of Land Transport must enforce licensing and strict rules such as no-parking yellow zones with physical barriers to protect lives and property in Bangkok, emphasizing the city cannot afford further losses.
