"Joe Chaiwat" volunteers as the People's Party candidate for Bangkok governor, asking Bangkok residents for a chance to improve the city. He points to the June 28 election as a gateway to opportunity.,
8 June 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chaiwat Sathaworawijit, candidate number 10 for Governor of Bangkok from the People's Party, announced his policies and appealed to Bangkokians during the special program "Game Control City," which was his first debate stage to present his vision. The event was broadcast live on Thairath TV and Thairath Online starting at 17:30, where he appeared third after Mr. Anucha Boopachaisri, Democrat Party candidate, and Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, independent candidate for Bangkok governor.
Mr. Chaiwat introduced himself, saying many might not know him yet, so he wanted to share his background. Today, he comes not only as a candidate for Bangkok governor but also as an average Bangkok resident. He explained this by recalling his childhood selling goods at a street stall in Banglamphu, commuting by bus to school, riding long-tail boats, and after graduation, taking four different trips to work in Ladprao. He also cared for his bedridden father during his working years, giving him a deep understanding of the difficulties of living in Bangkok, which motivated him to volunteer for this role.
He began his political career with the Move Forward Party as a party-list MP before working for the public good to improve the country. He has run in three elections but, although not yet given the chance to manage the country, the opportunity to govern Bangkok opens on June 28.
"Therefore, I volunteer to be a candidate for governor. I want to see Bangkok as a city that cares for its people—a city where 99% of residents can access a good quality of life without needing to be wealthy, well-connected, or powerful. If you agree with me, the opportunity is yours on June 28."
