Demotion of Major General Supmethis Weerakittisunthorn to Colonel and Removal from Royal Guard Duties

A royal decree has been issued demoting Major General Supmethis Weerakittisunthorn to Colonel and relieving him from his duties as a member of the Royal Guard.


On 8 June 2026, the Royal Gazette website published the royal decree announcement. The decree concerns the demotion of a military officer serving in the royal household and his removal from the duties of the Royal Guard. It states that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn, the King Rama X, has graciously issued the royal command to demote the military officer serving in the royal household and to relieve him from his role in the Royal Guard.

This is authorized under Section 15 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, B.E. 2560 (2017), together with Sections 4 and 9 of the Act on the Administration of the Royal Household B.E. 2560, Sections 10, 13, and 14 of the Royal Decree on the Organization and Personnel Administration of the Royal Household B.E. 2560, Section 12 of the Military Ranks Act B.E. 2479 (1936), and Sections 6, 9, and 13 of the Royal Guard Act B.E. 2480 (1937).

. His Majesty has graciously commanded that Major General Supmethis Weerakittisunthorn, who held the position of Operations Officer at the Office of the Deputy Commander of the King's Guard Command 2, under the King's Guard Security Command (rank of Major General), be demoted to the position of Operations Officer at the Office of the Deputy Commander of the King's Guard Command 1, under the King's Guard Security Command (rank of Colonel), and relieved from the duties of the Royal Guard.

This change takes effect from 29 May 2026.
The announcement was made on 29 May 2026, the 11th year of the current reign.
