The Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) clarified that it has not delayed the restructuring of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Ministry of Sports, stating that the process is a normal legal procedure before the proposal is submitted to the Cabinet.
9 June 2026 GMT+7 The Office of the Public Sector Development Commission (OPDC) The OPDC issued a statement regarding recent reports about the restructuring of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, which claimed that the OPDC delayed the process to gather opinions before presenting to the Cabinet.
The OPDC clarified that this information is inaccurate. The OPDC resolved on 19 May 2026 to approve the restructuring of the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism and Sports by transferring tourism responsibilities to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and sports responsibilities to the Ministry of Sports. This restructuring involves moving tourism duties under the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and sports duties under the Ministry of Sports. According to the restructuring process, it is required by law under Section 19 of the Act on Drafting Legislation and Evaluating Legal Effectiveness B.E. 2562 (2019) to collect feedback from related government agencies.
Therefore, the consultation process is a normal legal step and not a delay of the restructuring process. The OPDC held a consultation with government agencies on the draft Act to restructure ministries, departments, and bureaus on 22 May 2026. The matter is now being submitted to the Cabinet for consideration. Once approved, it will be promptly forwarded to Parliament for further consideration.
