James Anucha Affirms 5 Feasible Policies to Solve All Bangkok Residents Problems

Anucha emphasized his commitment to solving Bangkok residents' problems, assuring that his five policies are achievable. He vowed to dismantle the bribery system involved in buying and selling positions using the “Sorn Rat” platform, asking for opportunities both as governor and council member.

On 9 Jun 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Anucha Boonpachaisri, known as James, Democrat Party candidate number 5 for Bangkok governor, declared his readiness to address all Bangkok residents' problems. He stated that under his tenure, the phrase "beyond Bangkok Metropolitan Authority's (BMA) power" would no longer exist. His five main policy areas include convenient transportation, a clean city, comfortable life, increased income, and full transparency. These have been studied and negotiated with various sectors, giving him confidence in their feasibility, especially in infrastructure and traffic management. He plans to promote a unified transit card allowing citizens to use a single card across all mass transit systems without paying multiple entry fees. He also proposes bringing the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) buses under BMA management and accelerating the introduction of electric boats as feeder services for better connectivity. Traffic and accident issues at railway crossings will be addressed using AI-controlled traffic signals instead of manual operation to reduce errors and prioritize safety. Coordination with the Department of Land Transport will enforce strict traffic laws around yellow box junctions. To tackle flooding, an integrated management plan will expedite water drainage through Vibhavadi canal and Bang Sue drainage tunnels, while expanding a "giant tunnel" network to divert water to the Gulf of Thailand. Regarding environmental concerns and PM 2.5 pollution, strict measures will be enforced, including immediate suspension of licenses for construction sites violating standards and causing pollution. Authorities will also require all trucks to have fully covered tarps, and develop a dust alert system sending SMS warnings directly to residents' phones without needing app usage.

Regarding corruption in district director appointments and bribery, he firmly stated that such practices must end. Personnel appointments will be based on knowledge and capability. The Democrat Party has prepared an AI technology platform named “Sorn Rat” to monitor transparency in procurement and district office operations. Any irregularities or delays will be immediately flagged for verification and follow-up. As for the issue of over 24 abandoned government buildings where contractors halted work due to rising costs, he proposed, drawing on his business background, to involve private sector groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Thai Industries, and the Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking to discuss with the Interior Minister or Prime Minister. They will seek a balanced solution to adjust contracts or compensate for material cost increases so that government projects can continue without burdening the public. He urged Bangkok residents that these five main policies will produce rapid results from day one if he is entrusted as governor, alongside enough Democrat Party Bangkok council members to jointly drive the work. This will reduce obstacles in coordination and lobbying within the council to smoothly implement policies for Bangkok residents. He concluded, "From now on, there will be no more saying something is beyond authority or dismissing issues. We will coordinate and take ownership until every problem is resolved."
