The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance revealed that on June 11, the board for the "Poor People's Card" will review the tax deduction eligibility criteria for parents, stressing that there has been no screening or revocation of welfare cardholders' rights.
On 10 June 2026, Mr. Lawaron Saengsanit, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, stated that on 11 June 2026, the State Welfare for Grassroots Economy and Society Committee, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Mr. Akniti Nitithanprapas, will meet to address the Prime Minister's directives regarding the review of eligibility criteria for state welfare cardholders. This is in response to public concerns over the tax deduction rules for parents, which have caused parents to lose their state welfare benefits.
As for the outcome of the meeting, if a review is conducted, it must be submitted to the Cabinet for approval, so the Ministry of Finance can proceed with the next steps accordingly.
However, at present, the Ministry of Finance continues to allow welfare cardholders to verify their identity according to the original timeline, with registration open from 4 to 21 June 2026, and no screening or revocation of welfare cardholders' rights has taken place.
