Suphachai Stays Resilient Amid Frequent Controversies, Supported by Three Agency Spokespersons, Commits to Improved Communication

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphachai said she is not discouraged by frequent controversies, feeling quite comfortable with the support of three agency spokespeople to aid communication. She explained that the Ministry of Commerce looks at the entire system, but some individuals selectively raise questions about certain issues. She affirmed her commitment to improving communication.

At 09:10 on 10 June 2026 GMT+7, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphachai Suthammanphun spoke at the Government House regarding concerns that the three technocrat 'mother cooks' from the Bhumjaithai Party have been abandoned and whether a communication team should be established to assist with explanations. She said there is a lot of information, as well as facts, so explanations involve steps over the short, medium, and long term. Some may question why certain issues are not addressed immediately. This is why government spokespersons, party spokespersons, and the Ministry of Commerce spokesperson all help manage communication. She asked the media to assist in communicating news and facts comprehensively.

When asked if the controversies discourage her from working, Suphachai replied no, but said they highlight the need to improve communication so people better understand. As the Ministry of Commerce oversees the entire system, focusing only on the short term is insufficient. However, most people tend to raise only short-term issues and question why the long-term is not mentioned, or vice versa. Regardless of which issues are raised, it remains their duty to communicate effectively.

She added that improvements are underway, including using infographics for communication since the process involves the entire supply chain—from producers to intermediaries and exporters. Efforts are made to communicate comprehensively, and she urged the media to fully convey facts so the public receives complete information. After the interview, Suphachai raised both hands and said, "I feel very comfortable."
