Anutin Declines to Respond to Mysterious Comment About Alleged Monthly 5 Million Baht Extortion

The Prime Minister did not respond to the mysterious comment, citing a scheme to dig up information on a prominent minister in order to extort 5 million baht.

On 10 June 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, avoided answering media questions regarding a comment on his personal Facebook account. The comment teased about a scheme attempting to uncover information on Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, to extort a monthly payment of 5 million baht. The message from Anutin’s account read, "Hehe, no matter how many guesses, they always get who it is right," which sparked public debate over whether the comment was made personally by him or by a page administrator.

Recently, reporters pressed the issue, to which Anutin only smiled and replied, "Looking at the account? I don’t understand what you’re talking about." When asked again whether he personally posted the comment about the 5 million baht extortion, the Prime Minister stopped listening and refused to answer before quickly walking away to enter the Thai Khu Fah building.
