Prime Minister Discusses with Chamber of Commerce Highlighting Historic Deal Turning Vietnam from Competitor to Partner

The Prime Minister met with the Thai Chamber of Commerce to exchange views on the economic direction, clearly stating that no one can compete against Thailand and Vietnam working together.

On 10 June 2026 GMT+7, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, welcomed Phot Aramwattanannot, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, along with the committee, at Government House to pay a courtesy call and exchange opinions on the country's economy and trade.

Anutin spoke about the success of his official visit to Vietnam and participation in the ASEAN Future Forum, describing it as highly successful. The Thai government reaffirmed its stance under current geopolitics that Thailand and Vietnam should turn to cooperate as trade partners and strategic allies rather than competitors. Given the similar economic sizes and growth (GDP) of both countries, collaborating to enhance each other's potential will enable them to stand strong and compete globally. This idea was well received by Vietnamese leaders.

The Prime Minister added that this visit to Vietnam included major Thai business groups such as Amata Group, Central Group, and WHA Group, though they participated as private investors. Moving forward, the government plans to improve the approach by involving organizations or chambers representing the private sector to send appropriate representatives on official government trips abroad, aiming to maximize trade success.

“This government prioritizes and believes it can continuously expand Thailand’s economy. The government is ready to act as a support force to secure the best trade conditions for opening foreign markets. At the same time, the government relies on cooperation and investment decisions from the private sector to open new trade channels with entrepreneurs worldwide,” Anutin said.
