Chadchart welcomes Jirayu and Chris filing a complaint with the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) tomorrow to investigate the 'Ah Gong' system. He is confident his four years of full commitment have been spotless, is not concerned about losing votes, and urges focusing on policies and positive campaigning without mudslinging.
On 10 June 2026, Mr. Chadchart Sitthiphan, independent candidate for Bangkok governor, number 9, spoke regarding the planned submission tomorrow (11 June) by Mr. Jirayu Huangsap and Mr. Chris Potranan, Members of Parliament from the Economic Party, who will present a letter to the NACC to investigate the 'Ah Gong' system. He said he welcomes any investigation if there is evidence and that the definition of the 'Ah Gong' system is still unclear. He emphasized that he stands ready for scrutiny but regrets they did not file the complaint while he was governor, as now he is a private citizen and it's unclear where the information would come from. He urged a full investigation and asked that this not be politicized, as the governor election is ongoing. He wants to focus on policies and informing the public about future plans. Regarding investigations, he is happy to cooperate and believes he can stand by his record anytime; an investigation now is not necessary since everyone has the right to be examined.
Asked whether he feels discouraged or if this issue might reduce his votes, Chadchart said he understands and sometimes feels discouraged because he wants to present good things to the public but ends up spending time addressing past issues. He stated that his four years in office were without blemish. However, if people criticize, he tries to respond but insists that policies must be discussed as they are crucial to the future of Bangkok's residents.
He added, "Don't spread falsehoods just to create a buzz, as that causes misunderstanding and confusion. Please speak only the facts and truth, and if you claim something, you must provide evidence. If it's just for fun, votes, or to mislead, don't do it." He also asked the media to help monitor this. Meanwhile, he must address accusations but maintains there was never an 'Ah Gong' system because it was his team's joint effort. Vote buying or selling positions never happened because it's impossible. If anyone falsely claims so, he invites them to present information.
Regarding whether he will sue those making accusations, Chadchart said probably not; he wants to stay calm and does not want to appear as silencing others. Ultimately, he wants the public to judge his performance over the past four years and question the motives behind current attacks. Unless serious defamation occurs causing damage, he will remain calm and let matters proceed. If it goes through the NACC process, so be it. He knows Jirayu and Chris and said if they want to investigate, they should do so thoroughly.
Today, some Bangkok councilor candidates from a workers' group called for constructive campaigning during the less than 20-day election period. Chadchart agreed, saying people should know the policies. He acknowledged that corruption is important to address, and if evidence exists, it should be clearly presented for voters to decide. Campaigning should be constructive. He has never criticized others and has explained many issues repeatedly. He is not tired of responding to the same questions and will continue to answer because he is not avoiding anything.
On being seen as untouchable by some, Chadchart said he is touchable and has been criticized many times. He confirmed there is no organized group attacking others or IOs harassing anyone; everything happens naturally and is not controlled. Those attacked should not worry but remain calm and avoid escalating conflicts. He warned against endless quarrels.
