Anutin emphasized the success of his visit to Vietnam, ordering seven ministries to advance cooperation in all dimensions. He highlighted the crane as a symbol of friendship between the two countries and plans to send six more cranes this year.
At the Cabinet meeting on 10 June 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, revealed that following the Cabinet meeting, Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior,
spoke about the achievements of his official visit to Vietnam during the year marking the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.
The spokesperson said this visit was another excellent opportunity for the Prime Minister to build upon the success of the visit to Thailand by President To Lam, with joint discussions covering various issues, including bilateral relations through existing cooperation mechanisms such as the JCBC, trade and investment, people-to-people relations, security, and regional cooperation.
During this trip, Thai business leaders accompanied the delegation to strengthen ties and increase opportunities for expanding Thai private sector investment in Vietnam in the future, aiming to turn discussions into concrete outcomes.
The Prime Minister instructed relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Social Development, the Board of Investment, and related bodies, to expedite efforts to concretize cooperation in various areas.
He also assigned Ms. Supachai Suthammanphun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, to establish a joint committee on trade and investment as a mechanism to discuss and drive increased trade value between the two countries, monitor the resolution of trade and investment obstacles, and facilitate the private sectors of both nations—from being “trading partners” to becoming “partners of the future.”
The Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson added that another important matter he reported at the Cabinet meeting concerned the “crane.” Today, the crane symbolizes the strong relationship between the two countries. The Vietnamese government expressed gratitude to Thailand for sending six cranes last year and plans to receive an additional six this year. This follows an MOU between the Thai and Vietnamese Zoo Organizations on cooperating in the conservation and breeding of cranes.
The Prime Minister has tasked the Ministry of Natural Resources to proceed with delivering more cranes beyond the originally agreed number, as a celebration of the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two nations.
