“Peerawat” Challenges Transparency, Urges Prime Minister to Explain Unlocking of “Xin Ke Yuan”

Peerawat, deputy spokesperson of the Kla Tham Party, demands the Prime Minister personally explain the unlocking of Xin Ke Yuan. If everything is transparent, he asks strongly whether the steel was approved because a "masked figure" cleared the way for big capital.

On 10 June 2026, Peerawat Somwong, deputy spokesperson of the Kla Tham Party and opposition member, commented on the case of Xin Ke Yuan Steel Company Limited being allowed to resume operations. He said the government cannot just respond by saying "refer to the documents," because while the documents might have passed through government offices, the risks fall on the entire population.

Peerawat said that today society is not only asking whether the factory met the conditions, but whether the steel truly passed or if only the paperwork did. He questioned why a factory that was once a major national concern could resume operations while no one has publicly clarified the doubts.

“If everything is transparent, the Prime Minister must answer personally: who inspected it, who certified it, where are the test results, is there an independent expert? After reopening, how will steel be randomly tested? Don't let people feel that if a poor person makes a small mistake, they are hounded to their doorstep, but if it’s big capital with large money and connections, a ‘masked figure’ runs interference, opens doors, and rolls out the red carpet without fear,” Peerawat said.

Peerawat added that steel is not an ordinary product, but part of homes, schools, hospitals, bridges, and public buildings. If the steel does not meet standards, those who suffer are not the signatories but the public, future generations, and working-class people who have no way of knowing if the structures above their heads are truly safe.

“The government should not use the phrase ‘passed the criteria’ as a blanket cover for all problems, because this phrase does not clear doubts, erase the history, or remove responsibility. If it is truly safe, release all test results. If truly transparent, allow independent experts to retest. Do not fear the light, because only light can show the public whether this process was proper or just a shadow of a masked figure behind the curtain of power,” Peerawat said.

The deputy spokesperson said the Prime Minister must clarify whether this unlocking was truly based on scientific principles and law, or if there was pressure from certain groups pushing behind the scenes. Because when the government stays silent, the public inevitably suspects lobbying, influence, or large sums of money being used to sway those in power.

“This is not an accusation but a question born from the government’s silence. If there is nothing to hide, the Prime Minister must come forward to answer, not let documents speak for the truth, nor let the ‘masked figure’ become the true power above the Thai bureaucracy,” Peerawat said.

Peerawat emphasized that the opposition does not obstruct operators who comply with the law but cannot accept public safety being sacrificed for the convenience of big capital, nor allow the bureaucracy to become a rubber stamp letting anyone operate without social responsibility.

“This country must not have double standards: one for the poor who are scrutinized and pressured on every permit, and another for big capital with a masked figure opening the way. If the government allows this image to persist, it tells the public that Thai law is harsh on the small but weak on the powerful,” Peerawat said.

Peerawat concluded that the Xin Ke Yuan case is not over. As long as the government does not disclose all information, as long as the Prime Minister does not dare to answer questions, and as long as the public still doubts whether the steel truly passed or only the paperwork did, the opposition will not let this matter be swept under the bureaucratic rug.

“One steel beam does not just carry pillars and beams; it carries lives, families, and the public’s trust in the state. If the Prime Minister still cannot say who is behind this unlocking, do not yet ask the public to believe it. Today, people do not want reassurances from the government, but want the truth and to see the masked figure manipulating behind the curtain,” Peerawat said.
