The Prime Minister emphasized during the Cabinet meeting that combating drugs is a national priority and praised the successful operation to raid and arrest a transnational drug network in Samut Prakan yesterday. The meeting took place on 10 June 2026.
At the Cabinet meeting on 10 June 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior,
commended the success of the operation to raid and arrest a transnational drug network at a chemical warehouse (Warehouse 20) in Samut Prakan Province on 9 June.
This operation was a close collaboration between Thai security agencies and the National Intelligence Service of the Republic of Korea. They seized a large batch of chemicals which, if left unchecked, could have been used as precursors to produce over 1.1 billion methamphetamine pills. This highlights the scale of the network and the severity of the drug problem threatening both Thailand and the region.
Ms. Ratchada added that the Prime Minister reiterated at the Cabinet meeting that the government regards drug suppression as a national agenda. He has assigned four main agencies—the Royal Thai Police, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Defense—to continuously follow up and expand investigations from this case. The effort is not only to prosecute those arrested but also to extend to the masterminds, supporters, transport networks, production sites, and funding sources behind the operation.
In addition, all agencies are to integrate their work closely and report progress to the government continuously to ensure that drug problem solutions are concrete and sustainable.
“The government will strictly enforce laws in all dimensions and will not allow Thailand to be a transit point or operational base for transnational drug networks anymore. I urge all agencies to adhere to the Prime Minister’s policy,”
‘Alleviate suffering, promote well-being, protect public peace, eradicate drugs, and defeat criminals’ for the highest benefit of the people,” Ms. Ratchada emphasized.
