The government is pleased as foreign tourist arrivals to Thailand remain strong, generating over 700 billion baht in revenue. It was revealed that in May 2026, foreign tourist numbers grew by 3.54 percent, generating more than 100 billion baht in income.
On 11 June 2026, Ms. Ploytale Laksamisaengchan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister, stated that from 1 to 31 May 2026, 2.35 million foreign tourists traveled to Thailand, marking a 3.54 percent increase compared to the same period last year. This generated 108 billion baht in revenue, up 12.77 percent from the previous year. The top five countries of origin for foreign tourists were Malaysia, China, India, Russia, and Singapore, respectively.
From 1 January to 7 June 2026, foreign tourist arrivals in Thailand totaled 14,515,978, generating cumulative revenue of 701.358 billion baht. The top five countries of origin were China with 2,386,714 visitors, Malaysia with 1,839,151, India with 1,103,945, Russia with 964,670, and South Korea with 552,621 visitors. This week, a slight increase in foreign tourist arrivals is expected as travelers from various markets return to more typical travel patterns.
“The tensions in the Middle East have significantly increased travel costs for both air and land transport, affecting travel behavior by reducing long-distance trips and encouraging tighter spending controls. Beyond revenue from foreign tourists, the government is focused on driving Thailand’s tourism industry by promoting short-distance, easy-to-travel tourism. It is also restructuring Thailand’s tourism sector to align with the modern world’s emphasis on sustainability, energy efficiency, and the value of meaningful experiences.”
