In the final 18 days, “James Anucha” campaigns for Bangkok governor, emphasizing a commitment to honest politics. He declares that the Democrat Party will not accept corruption and promotes feeder buses to solve traffic jams and technology to fix polluted water issues.
On 11 June 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Anucha Burapachaisri, Democrat Party candidate number 5 for Bangkok governor, began campaigning early at Thonburirom Park with Mr. Pongsath Piamsawat, candidate number 5 for Thung Khru district council. Afterwards, they visited the morning market at Soi Suksawat 38 with Mr. Sai Chotikasupha, candidate number 2 for Ratsadaphon district council. The public warmly greeted them and openly discussed local problems.
After speaking with residents exercising in the park that morning, Mr. Anucha revealed that a major issue in Ratsadaphon and Thung Khru districts is severe traffic congestion caused by mass transit construction. Although trips are short, they take hours due to rapid growth of housing estates and schools in the area. To address this, the Democrat Party and district council candidates propose a small “feeder” or minibus system to pick up passengers within alleys and lanes. Residents would only need to walk 100-200 meters from their homes to catch a bus connecting them to main transit lines, reducing private car use and offering more convenient travel options.
Mr. Anucha also discussed solutions for flooding and polluted stagnant water in communities, stating that a modern Bangkok must stop waiting for rain to dispatch officials on site. Instead, Internet of Things (IoT) technology should be installed at water gates and bridges to monitor water levels and automatically control gate openings and closings.
“Most polluted water in canals results from stagnant conditions without movement. We must manage water gate systems to align with tidal cycles, ensuring continuous water flow. Regarding accumulated waste in National Housing Authority areas constrained by legal limits, Bangkok must take a leading role coordinating effective garbage collection. This will advance our policies for convenient travel, a clean city, and comfortable living,” he said.
When asked about the atmosphere in the final 18 days before the election, amid increased scrutiny and attacks among candidates, Mr. Anucha said those accused must clarify matters to enlighten the public. For the Democrat Party, investigating corruption and ensuring transparency is a core principle following the honest political approach of party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva. Currently, the party has developed the “Song Rat” platform, using AI technology to analyze and audit Bangkok’s budgets and projects for irregularities.
“We are ready to investigate and reveal any abnormalities. If citizens have corruption information, they can immediately send it to our platform. This system will objectively verify facts to ensure fairness for all, both complainants and those accused, aiming to make Bangkok a transparent and accountable city in every aspect.”
