Rakchanok Srinok urges Chadchart to show greater sincerity in combating corruption, affirming that the People’s Party (PCN) has been monitoring the issue continuously, not only during the final phase before the election. She praises Dr. Joe as the best current choice for leadership.
On 11 June 2026 at 09:30 at the Parliament, Ms. Rakchanok Srinok, a party-list MP from the People’s Party (PCN), commented on the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s (BMA) budget for purchasing exercise equipment, an issue that arose during the BMA election campaign. She said the parliamentary committee overseeing the budget is considering whether to bring this matter into the session before or after the election, to avoid accusations of politicizing the issue. She confirmed that MP Suphanat Meenachainan from PCN has been closely monitoring and investigating the details since the previous session. When asked if the explanations from former BMA Governor Chadchart Sittipunt and former Deputy Governor Tawida Kamolwetch were satisfactory, Ms. Rakchanok said she wants them to show more genuine commitment to tackling corruption within the organization. She criticized their call to respect those suspected of corrupt behavior or involved in the process, saying they may be giving respect to the wrong people and should instead respect the taxpayers who own the money.
Regarding the next steps for investigation, the budget committee plans to invite representatives from the BMA to provide explanations. If this occurs after the election, the committee may also invite the BMA Governor to personally clarify the matter.
When asked about criticism that the PCN raised this issue only in the final stretch before the election as a political strategy, despite knowing about it since February, Ms. Rakchanok said they have been following the issue continuously. MP Suphanat has posted and given media interviews about it more than ten times. She urged the public to fairly consider that the party has been diligently tracking the matter. Asked if she is confident in PCN’s Bangkok gubernatorial candidate, Mr. Chaiwat Sathawornwijit, during this final phase, Ms. Rakchanok said she trusts all her like-minded colleagues and believes Mr. Chaiwat is the best candidate currently available, ready to work hard and wholeheartedly.
