Anutin Confirms Festive Events and Concerts Can Proceed but Must Begin with a Moment of Mourning

The Prime Minister revealed that schedules for overseas visits will focus on the core missions and be kept as short as possible. Festive events and concerts can be held, but every event must start with a standing tribute of mourning. He trusts that the public knows how to behave suitably.

On 12 June 2026 at 11:00 a.m., Anutin spoke after a Cabinet meeting, stating that the sole agenda was preparation for royal ceremonies. He assigned each ministry and all relevant agencies to provide full support and care for citizens attending the events. The guidelines for mourning should follow the Royal Household's statement. Asked if the Prime Minister’s overseas duties would change, Anutin said that scheduled meetings with foreign leaders remain as planned. He instructed ministers and agencies that foreign trips should focus solely on essential duties, eliminating non-core activities and be as brief as possible.

When asked whether the public can continue holding events, Anutin said that daily life, work, and income generation should proceed normally. He believes everyone is already grieving deeply. However, in terms of duties and livelihood, life should continue as usual. He is confident that everyone understands how to act appropriately during the mourning period. The Royal Household's statement is clear, and there is an overlap since government offices are already mourning the passing of the Princess Mother.

Asked if festive events and concerts can still take place, Anutin replied that everything should continue as usual, as was the case during the Princess Mother's time. Every event should start with standing to pay respects. By doing so, it shows acknowledgment and proper conduct.

Reporters noted that before the special Cabinet meeting, Anutin led the ministers in a moment of silence to mourn the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Chulabhorn Kittiyapaphat Nareentira Thepyawadi, Krom Luang Rajsarin Siriphat Maha Vajraratchathida, in gratitude for her benevolence. The Cabinet attended the meeting fully and dressed in mourning attire.
