The Prime Minister announced a major achievement by the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), aggressively tracing the financial routes of drug syndicates and the Chinese gray call center gangs, seizing assets worth more than 40 billion baht into the treasury.
On 12 June 2026 GMT+7, at the Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, presided over a press conference on the seizure and freezing of assets in major cases, including a ceremony to return funds to victims by court order. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, along with executives from the Ministry of Justice and AMLO officials, participated in the event.
Anutin revealed that following the "Drug Eradication" operation which dismantled a major network led by Thapanan Thammaratthada, also known as "Nhu Chen," and the Chinese gray capital network operating illegally in Thailand, the government has been fully committed to expanding investigations and uprooting these crimes. Particularly, the government has implemented asset seizure measures to cut off the financial channels of criminal organizations. Since this administration took office, it has seized and frozen assets from fraud gangs and illegal networks totaling more than 40 billion baht. He reiterated the firm stance to suppress such crimes decisively, refusing to let foreign mafias or corrupt Thai individuals use Thailand as a money laundering hub, stressing that the sanctity of the law is the foundation of economic confidence.
Representatives of victims from the Ministry of Agriculture’s savings cooperative expressed their relief after receiving returned funds, saying that members had long suffered worry and distress about not getting their money back. They praised the government and AMLO for their relentless pursuit of assets to restore victims' losses, demonstrating tangible government commitment to combating financial crime. After the ceremony, Anutin toured the seized goods and assets held by AMLO next to the office building before departing.
