
The Supreme Patriarch has decreed changes to the 99th birthday celebration activities to dedicate merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha.
On 12 June 2026, following the organization of activities honoring and dedicating merit for the 99th birthday of His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch and Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, scheduled for 26 June 2026, the government, through the organizing committee, assigned the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office to conduct the events, which include ordination ceremonies and an exhibition honoring the Supreme Patriarch.
The Secretariat Office of the Supreme Patriarch issued letter SOR. 0320/2569 dated 12 June 2026 regarding the Supreme Patriarch’s decree on the organization of activities honoring and dedicating merit, stating:
“The government, through the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, has prepared activities to honor His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch, on the occasion of his 99th birthday in June 2026 at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram.
His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch, has graciously decreed that Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Krom Luang Rajsarinisiri Phat Mahawatcharajathida, who passed away on Thursday, 11 June 2026, rendered immeasurable services to the nation, Buddhism, and the people. She was a devoted patron of the Sangha and Buddhism, especially supporting Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram. To respectfully commemorate her benevolence and dedicate merit to her noble memory, His Holiness has decreed the following actions for consideration and implementation:
1. The ordination activities dedicated to the Supreme Patriarch, scheduled from 13 to 29 June 2026, shall have their purpose redefined as follows:
“His Holiness Somdet Phra Ariyavongsagatayana, the Supreme Patriarch, grants royal patronage for ordination dedicated to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Krom Luang Rajsarinisiri Phat Mahawatcharajathida.”
Additionally, there is a royal command for monks participating in the merit-dedicating Buddhist chanting project to perform the chanting after evening prayers every day.
2. The exhibition honoring the Supreme Patriarch shall be revised to an exhibition titled “The 13 Zodiac Cycles at Wat Ratchabophit: The Royal Devotion Site,” with expanded content and objectives to also honor Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Krom Luang Rajsarinisiri Phat Mahawatcharajathida.
3. Other activities shall be adapted to dedicate merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, Krom Luang Rajsarinisiri Phat Mahawatcharajathida, with adjustments made to align appropriately with the mourning period in the royal household.
